The Falkenburg family roots begin in Little Egg Harbor on the New Jersey coast. From its founding in 1740, LEHT was a part of Burlington Co., NJ until 1891. At this time it became a part of Ocean County.
Little Egg Harbor Township, NJ history
Little Egg Harbor is the point where three New Jersey counties come together. Ocean, (north along the coast), Burlington (inland toward Pennsylvania), and Atlantic (south along the coast). In exploring the Falkenburg family roots, I will explore all of these regions.
